Speedy is the most common cable ISP but I've never heard them accused of being good or stable.

Need advise on Best internet provider in JKT. Looking for ADSL Lines providers through the Phone line.

So any suggestion on good stable line providers,
Hate the net connection here too used to the NTL/Virgin Line Providers back in the UK used to get 20MB per second.
Used Speedy for three months and switched to a 3G broadband provider after that due to frequent service interruptions, sometimes up to four to six hours. Anything beyond 3.6 Mbps here will probably be too expensive compared to the UK or US. I actually get more stable connections from my Pro XL 3G broadband connection here, compared to ADSL. Download speeds are OK as long as you're not transferring huge files or using Internet video. Too bad my area does not have cable coverage yet. If you're going for 3G broadband avoid those small USB modems and get a combined modem/router instead, for instance the one from Optus.

Which area do you live in?
Any chance Bintaro has Cable access?
In my city there are many ISPs but I believe the weak point in an ADSL connection in Indonesia is the phone line quality , which as far as I know , Telkom (PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia) is the sole responsible for . Telkom also has its own ISP , so it is probably cheaper to buy a complete ADSL internet connection package from them . But maybe there are other better ISPs than Telkom's . If you want to contact some of them , take a look at the "Yellow Pages" , "Internet Service Provider" , and "Computer Internet" .

This site should be able to indicate whether you have cable access:
http://www.firstmedia.com/3easy_step.html
The vendor is First Media.
First Media provides stable connection. But still you need to check if your place covered by them.
I searched for some info on 3G modem/routers and all I can find are those USB modems, nothing for Optus as you suggested. Would you mind posting some more information for 3G modem/routers, or pointing me in the right direction? Cheers mate!
I currently have a Vodaphone USB modem with M2 Bloom in the Hayam Wuruk Plasa area (JKT Barat) and been getting mixed performance. Service was great a few weeks ago but has nose dived, perhaps the new nanny filtering?
I got myself one of these:
http://help.optuszoo.com.au/help/wir.../wirelessmodem
which is nothing more than an unlocked, rebadged Huawei E960. I got it from a shop on either the second or third floor of Poins Square in South Jakarta (across the road from Carrefour), and the shop is on the East end of the building. Have them test it for you before purchasing it, i.e. bring your 3G SIM card with you if possible.
