  • British volunteer dies in Medan after threesome with two cigarette girls

    http://sumutpos.co/2014/09/86544/wn-...-di-penginapan

Apparently he was encouraged to take 'obat kuat', what precisely that means I don't know, by one of the girls, and died the next day.

He had been working as a volunteer (illegally) in Bukit Lawang. Not sure if immigration will take more of an interest now, as he's hardly alone in that, there are supposed to be hefty fees to be paid for research, visa fees, and all the rest, and nobody bothers.

Hang on there's a news story in the UK Daily Mail that a 24-year-old British orangutan volunteer in Sumatra died as a result of dengue, he's called Richard Cann, now I'm guessing the "Richard David Michael" is the same bloke and the Indonesians have as they frequently do simply dropped his last name.

So we've gone from bloke dying as a result of a threesome with a couple of cigarette girls, to a bloke dying from a non-specific heart complaint to a bloke dying of dengue.

I suspect the Daily Mail might have a more accurate take on the story.

Maybe they do but I like the first version much better - given the choice I know which way I would choose to die by

Dengue or the filling in an SPG sandwich? Yeah it's a tough choice right enough.

Perhaps he died of quick-onset lung cancer?

So, after our forum fellows added another source from Jakarta Post, I'm wondering which one you prefer to believe now... JakartaPost or DailyMail?

Anyway, it's not the matter. Such a sad news if one young guy really died because consuming too many Viagra. If we had met (I have 'orang kuat' friend in Bukit Lawang conservation that you might know and can introduce us), you didnt have to use obat kuat -just use condom- and you would not have died in vain..... Sigh. I do appreciate conservationist, hats off to his works so far.

Heart attack could have been due to the crazy Medan traffic, was he heading to hospital in a becak?

Masuk angin is still a hot contender though...made me laugh.

I've been traveling all over N Sumatra this last week, and have seen many road-side warungs specializing in 'obat kuat'... Fleeting glimpses into them as I pass by revealed pictures of cobras. Cobra juice, or something. Literally, snake oil.

As an aside, another thing I saw a million times at the the thousands of bengkels I passed were for 'doorsmeer' services. I know gantil oli, tambal ban, etc., but what the heck is a doorsmeer?
