Is that a pet monkey in your pocket, or are you just happy to see me?

You wouldn't want it to be traumatized during the move so best to keep it in as close to it's natural environment as possible ..... in your backpack ......
The answer is 42 .... any questions? .

Is it legal to have a pet monkey?

That was / is my question also. I can remember having the same or similar THOUGHT or WISH, a few years ago ("wannapetmonkey ... wannapetmonkey ... wanna.."), but it has faded greatly since. I think this is due to a few factors, including stories my wife has told me and pictures / stories I've seen on tv. Not just about whether it is legal in this or that country, but more so about whether it is ethical to keep such an animal as a pet, plus what happens to the monkey when / if one leaves and can't take the monkey with, etc.

I understand that one can be kept "humanely" and certainly without overt abuse, but ... it's a bit like keeping birds in cages to me, I think. Also, I'm not sure I'd really be happy with as much "monkey business" as would likely accompany a monkey in da house.

My heart breaks every time I see it. Luckily less and less on the Jakarta streets.

                Don't you just love this?
