  • House in Rice Field : Drainage and Rising Damp

Hello good people... I've found this great property Nr Sanur, Bali....but the place has problems with damp (rising from ground and from walls)... the drainage in the surrounding rice fields is non-existent.. Can anyone suggest a specialist in this area... or offer any first hand advice. Cheers.

Building on a rice field is very expensive as your foundation must be built to be waterproof and free of sinking.?* If not addressed properly you will have serious water damage that will be extremely costly.?*?* ?*We live in a rice farming community in Jogya...most of the homes on the rice fields are literally falling apart as they were built very cheaply with very poor construction due to financial situations of the very poor people here.?*Many appear to be sinking.?* If I were going to build on a rice field I would do it as the Thai's build...a house on stilts that are deeply embedded in the soil.?* Not only does this alleviate the need for a complex foundation but also helps to enhance your views while keeping you high and dry.  In the open areas under the structure you can have a lovely patio for entertaining.
