Dewantoro has performed her work at and held workshops at the Esplanade in Singapore, Hong Kong, Australia and Japan. Written and created by K.Dewantoro, the play explores the ideas of revolution in both society, in theater and in one’s self. The performance is interlaced with memories of directing Marat/Sade in 2005 and 2010 and weaves text from Peter Weiss’s “The Persecution and Assassination of Jean-Paul Marat as Performed by the Inmates of the Asylum of Charenton Under the Direction of the Marquis de Sade.” At times Kerensa plays Jean Paul Marat at other times Marquis De Sade and Charlotte Corday and raises the question of how much we should identify with the roles we play and our daily lives. It also raises the question of how much our daily lives affect the roles we play and how time can change the way we view a single work.

Staying true to the essence of the original script, Dewantoro draws on range of theatrical styles as she sifts through her ‘roles’ in Indonesian theater as a foreigner making theater in Indonesia and as a woman. This pastiche of theatre draws on clowning, physical theater, burlesque, realism and Artaud’s theater of cruelty amongst others. Kerensa will be joined by Estee Fuzianna an actress and graduate of STSI Bandung and Yayan Katho.
