In dragonfly once a colleague and I were hanging out with a group of our clients, they had a bottle of Macallan 18 on the table (my personal favourite whiskey, but runs about 3,000,000 rp a bottle in the UK, god knows how much in Indonesia) and they were mixing it with green tea

I thought at first what a waste, and thought it was funny. My colleague on the other hand is Scottish, and he was disgusted by it!!

You'd probably get beaten up if you did that in Glasgow

All of my guy friends overseas. They considered it unbecoming for them to drink cocktails.

The problem with some people, they don't like the real taste of drink or food they have but they still want the effect, hence the sweetening ingredients.

Jolie: yeah the singers in HRC were horrible, remember the lead singer, instead reaching high note, she was screaming like in hell, and her voice could really hurt our ears
    Hahaha, pitch imperfect indeed.

Where are you from? (Not where do you live). You've never had the pleasure of a fine single malt whiskey?

You had a go at rum as well.. Please get a sample of Ron zacapa XO, a 25 year old aged rum matured in the Guatemalan mountains, and tell me you need to splash coke in it...

    No. What a ridiculous post

A new club Nebula just had its soft opening at Central Park Mall in West Jakarta yesterday (June 6th) located in the blitzmegaplex cinema complex (parking at P13). There's still a lot of fine tuning to do but its mission is to be a great place to party strictly without drugs...excepting alcohol. :P

Thanks Jolie for the rec and the reminder!!!. Living in jkt for 2 years with always a plan to go to TGI one day.. Never seemed to happen! My wife always went on about the beef ribs.. Need to fast for 24hrs then head in there tomorrow! Thanks for the tip re the cocktails too.

Back home I only drink real ale, whiskey or rum. But in asia unless in a top bar the choice is pretty limited (no cask ales naturally). So i generally drink cocktails in Indonesia when I get bored of the beer

I won't recommend Hard Rock Cafe either. The food is mediocre. The band, oh the band...is earsplitting bad to say it nicely. Nope. Not gonna again.

Thanks for the heads up, was thinking of going to hard rock tonight. Won't bother now. My pet peeve is expensive cocktails and then they have the nerve to not put a decent measure of alcohol in it. How much are they trying to charge, 100k for a mocktail with a splash of water down vodka?

You should have sent them back, don't let them get away with it.

Stayed in a hotel in puncak once where the cocktails were over 150k. Ordered a Long Island.. Basically it was just watered down coke in a tumbler. I sent it back. Came back again, barely any difference. I asked to speak to the manager, complained about what was basically a scam. He apologised. The 3rd time lucky came back.. Was basically a tumbler half whiskey half tequila!! I was out for the count after that 1 drink.
