  • Could someone explain to me the Islam conversion

    hi everyone,

my girlfriend and I are now together since almost 4 years. She is Javanese and I am German.
we met in Europe and have already lived together secretly for a while here.

we intend to marry and I understand that since she is Muslim, I will have to convert to Islam as well.

I have to admit that im secular and not into any religion. I am not islamophobic either and I think they are wonderful people.

I would convert as a formality and as a sign of respect of her culture.
I apologise if that is offending to you but that is the way it is.

i mostly understood how the process of marriage works in Indonesia.
I have to prepare papers from my national administration, have them translated and later registered in Indo after the religious wedding.

my question is, can I do the conversion in indo?

or does it have to be done in Germany?

    (1) You may be mistaken . Supposing you are talking about marrying in Indonesia , you need to present the documents before the religious marriage . If you want a Muslim marriage in Indonesia , it is all done at/by the KUA (religious marriage + registration) .

    (2) Certainly you can . Procedures may differ a little depending on where you do it (see example in the link below) .
