I have recently (as in, twice over the past two days) scary, but possibly benign episodes of tachycardia. While I did once have panic disorder, these episodes feel different from before. I feel a bit faint, something I never had with anxiety attacks, and my heart rate remained around 120-150 for a good hour or two. Not crazy, dangerous fast but uncomfortable. The tachycardia remains, and as I type I am still around 100 BPM whereas I am normally around 80.

I did go to see a cardiologist here in Banda Aceh at a small clinic. Nice guy, took ECG both nights I had episodes and tonight I feel like he definitely got one under the "spell." My heart rate, while fast, did not exhibit any sort of dangerous arrhythmia. Ok, so most likely I don't have a serious heart problem. I had an echocardiogram as a check up 2 years ago. Fine. I had a stress echocardiogram as part of my anxiety diagnosis 10 years ago (to exclude heart conditions). Fine. I also have had holter monitors like twice. Also fine.

So here's my dilemma. I'm pretty convinced it's not my heart. I don't want to self diagnose (can't help myself), but I think I have an endocrine disorder. Hypoglycemia is a distinct possibility. Fortunately, there's an endocrinologist in Banda Aceh. Unfortunately, he's in Korea for two weeks. So, I'm kinda stuck.

Does anyone have hypoglycemic events or can recommend to me endocrinologists or cardiologists for a second opinion? They can be elsewhere, I'm looking for someone anywhere in the realm of Malaysia to Jakarta... just not Singapore. I'd love to, but I'm not that rich. I'm a non-smoker, I'm 33, I probably weigh about 140 pounds and I freely admit that I have a sweet tooth and I don't exercise enough.

Hi, apologies if I am posting this in the wrong section. I am writing to seek advice on finding an english-speaking counsellor in Jakarta (Central, South, or even in Banten etc.)? There is a personal preference for a counsellor that follows the person-centred approach, however overall any approach is fine. Thank you for any advice and tips.

Tips on using your air purifier effectively

The effectiveness and result from using an air purifier can only be realized if the unit isused under proper operating procedure and conditions....

The effectiveness and result from using an air purifier can only be realized if the unit isused under proper operating procedure and conditions. Start by choosing the right size
unit for your room, and replace the filter at the recommended 6-month intervals.
Remember that just as air conditioners and heaters have limits to the volume of air they
can cool or heat, every air purification system has limits to the volume of air it can clean.
Follow these commonsense guidelines:

• Run your system 24 hours per day.
It is a common misconception that cleaning the air is a one time “event” like
vacuuming a carpet or floor. Air within any indoor space is in a state of constant
change adding particles, microorganisms and gases into that space continuously.
Blueair systems are designed for phenomenally low power usage, so you can run
the system 24/7 without a jump in electricity consumption. In fact, it costs about
the same to power one of our air purification units as it does to power a single
light bulb: between 15 and 120 watts, depending on the unit and the operating
speed.
• Close your windows and doors.
Just like an air conditioner, to work efficiently you need to seal off the room in
which your system is working for best results. Even though you can't see the
contaminated air coming in and the clean air going out, the same logic applies to
your air purifier. This is especially important for people using a Blueair system to
ease nighttime asthma or allergy attacks
• Don’t use in a room bigger than the recommended room size.
Make sure that the unit is used to clean the air in a room appropriate for its
capacity. As a guideline, 6 to 9 air exchanges per hour are needed to reduce
levels of pollutants in a room by 80%. Should you not be able to use your unit at
the highest setting non-stop, due to factors such as noise, energy consumption,
you should then consider choosing a bigger capacity unit recommended for a
larger room size.
• Change filters regularly according to recommended guidelines.
Why change the filters so often? Filter efficiency, airflow and thus the overall
cleaning performance of an air purifier drop significantly when the filter media is
clogged up from prolonged use.

Blueair offers a convenient Filter Subscription Program that automatically
delivers your replacement filter kit every six months. You'll save time and effort,
and we even deliver these filters for you (free delivery within Jabotabek Area).
You can sign up for this service or obtained a filter replacement directly by calling
our head office/service centre

Hi,

I would like to move my kids to BIS. They confirm seats are available so I will need to submit applications quickly. The only doc I will have to obtain now is the medical check up. Checked with SOS and the quote is really a rip-off - $320 + $180 for Mantoux test. Back in Hanoi, it would cost me max. $150 for all.

Since BIS does not require the medical checkup to be done by any specific clinic, I assume it can be carried out by any certified doctor. Can you recommend anyone near Panglima Polim please?

Many thanks,

"Cleaning The Indoor Air"

We breathe 11.000 liters of air day and yet most of us neglect the quality of air around us, both indoor and ourdoor.

There is at least one big advantage that the air outside the house has over the air inside the house. One a sunny day, the air outside the house comes with a good dose of ultraviolet radiation from the sun. While ultraviolet rays are not so great for your skin, it turns out that they are good natural disinfectants - they kill bacteria.

Unfortunately, the air quality in highly polluted cities such a Jakarta is very poor to say the least and while we have no control over the air quality outside, we can take control of the air quality in our house.

Reduce or remove altogether source of pollutants in the house, such as reducing the use household cleaning chemicals, etc.

Ventilation used to be an option, but for city dwellers concerns over security, pollution from traffic and industries, etc. has all but made it neither viable nor practical.

Indoor plant are not only decorative, NASA scientists are finding them surprisingly useful in absorbing harmful gases and "cleaning" indoor air. These plants area natural way of combating "Sick Building Syndrome"

The Most sensible way for most of us to clean indoor air is still to invest in reliable HEPA-filter based air purifier that can be turned on 24/7 to remove microscopic pollutants, allergens and hazardous gases.

Hopefully helpful ...

about like 6 years ago, i checked my blood and found out that my trygliceride and cholesterol level is super high. ( it was 490 for TG and 320 for total cholesterol)
i went to an internist who gave me 2 medicines and once a month i needed to do a check up. after 2 years, my cholesterol level had never get to a normal level.
so i stopped the medication ( plus i was starting my bizz.. so i needed to control my expenses)

early this year i tried what they call it Jamur hitam putih - bought at hypermart- and did some testing.
the result was surprising good. in february, before i tried the mushroom, my cholesterol total was 326 (max 220) , trygliceride was 650 ( max 150 -yeah its super high) , and my LDL was 126 (mas 130).
after 2 months drinking the mushroom juice, on april i did a check up, y cholesterol total is 240, trygliceride is 451 and LDl is 97
not really sure about the english name of the mushroom,

but if any of you have some issue with cholesterol, maybe you can try that jamur hitam putih . ( 10 grams of mushroom , boiled with 6 glass of water until only 2 glasses of water is left. drink before you go to sleep and the other when you wake up) ....
hope it helps
