On it the "Date of expiry" is listed as 22 May 2013 (90 days after it was issued). My question is: Can I enter the country on this visa on the 22nd of May (the expiry date)? Or has it already expired on that date and I need to enter before? The "Visa Type" is "211" if that makes any difference.

Thanks for any info and sorry if this is a stupid question!

I have overstayed my 30 Day Tourist Visa. Now, I have an opportunity to work. The employer offered to take care of the KITAS paperwork. However, they do not know that I have already overstayed. I would like to take the job but afraid of being deported/jail once the paperwork process begins.

The ideal would be to pay the 20/day fee (Max) and then obtain the KITAS paperwork. Is this a possibility? Is the 20/day fee negotiable?

I'd rather not take the job if there is any risk of being deported/jail because my spouse and children are here.

Please resist the urge to lecture. I am just looking for answers.

Hello all, I'll try to make this simple because it's a bit complex.

I am employed by my university in the states and getting salary from them, therefore am not technically employed in Indonesia. I am working on a university collaboration with IPB here in Bogor.

I got a multi-entry Business Visa index 212 to allow me to enter Indonesia and get started working. This isn't ideal as I have to leave every 60 days but it's doable. I believe I am not in violation of the work laws as I explained the situation in writing when I applied for the business visa, and was approved. I am not taking any indonesian jobs.

IPB prefers that I get a KITAS and be officially under their auspices because of the legal protections that provides--it would allow IPB to advocate for me if anything bad should happen to me, as they would be my sponsor for the KITAS. It's safer. Also with a KITAS I can open a bank account and do other convenient things.

So the first idea was to apply for a work Visa and then get the KITAS from that.

The international office at IPB says that I can get a KITAS stemming from my status in a university collaboration ("cross-pacific collaboration/partnership" or some similar term) and that this will be much easier and cheaper than attempting to get a Work visa. A work visa is for private companies and would be processed by the Manpower department, approving a hiring plan, with a hefty fee of $1200 per year for the privilege. The education/collaboration status would be processed by the Ministry of Education and Culture and would not require a hiring plan to be approved, nor the fee, etc. And would still qualify me for the KITAS.

So does anyone know:
A. What status are they talking about? A SosBud or something different and more specialized?
B. Can I convert from a 212 Business Visa to this other status/visa?
C. How? How long will it take?
D. What if I just stick with the Business Visa? Am I very vulnerable? Any big downside besides inconvenience?

I know: "why don't you ask the international office at IPB?" . I feel like the information I've gotten from them so far has been incomplete and I don't trust it's fully correct. Plus there is a language issue. So I want to see what the legal minds here have to say

Thanks!
Rebecca

I did my visa extension through an agent in Makassar - Sulawesi. I picked up my passport on the way to the airport just before flying to Bali. I realized that the agent made a mistake counting the days, but there was no time to do anything about it. Now I have only 58 days not 60.
My visa is valid till 4th of June, my flight out is on the 6th of June.
Anybody knows whats best to do? Try to sort this out at the immigration office or is it not a big problem and I can just pay the 2 days overstay at the airport befort departing?

Thanks for any advise, I come to Indonesia every year for 2 months and dont want to have problems with my visa in future...

What is the status if my Child or British father and Thai mother is born in Indonesia, would the baby be considered as Indonesian by birth location?
If so would I and my Fiancée be able to get a long stay visa (or what ever) due to looking after / taking care of / legal guardians of a Indonesian national?

We are not in Indonesia yet but researching information on visas etc before making the big move to Kuta/Ubud. Currently we are still in Thailand. We would like to stay for a year, and if we enjoy it perhaps make it a permanent move.

The child will be born out of wedlock, I add as this makes a big difference. well at least in Thailand it does.
Thank you kindly in advance.
