View Full Version : Animal Photography Challenge Thread.
All this talk of lens and photography has given me an idea. Taking pics of animals. Picture must be a recent one. (we'll take your word for it, no google allowed) ;)
First up : A Gorilla (bonus points if it is a mother gorilla holding a baby! )
Prize. The glory of being Indonesia's finest wildlife photographer, and you get to designate the next animal challenge.
Great idea when can you come for a sitting, do you have any sprog KW's you can bring?
hehe, the rules prohibit me from entering the first challenge.
Are you after a new avatar?
OK I do my best, not a gorilla, but my little baby certainly had the face and courage of one
hmmmph, not even close.
Bring out the real photographers. I say!
Morrrrrry ?
Oh come on KW at least acknowledge she looks cute

The expression on the dog's face says it all. "Get me out of here!" he/she seems to be pleading.
And what is with the booties ?
You outta be reported to the RSPCA.
I think "Hana" the dog was more fed up because I woke her from her sleep. The picture was in Delhi, India in teh winter, note the heater in teh background, the coat was essential for her, on reflection I cannot beleive hot that city got in the summer and how damm cold in teh winter
Marble floor in addition to a very cold and wet road, she had no objection to them at all ( except maybe teh colour)
Guys help, I went to upload new picture, forst too big, so resized.
What is maximum file size?
No matter what size I reduced it to in my album it just shows as a question mark ? ???
What am I doing wrong/.
Good idea ! I think I could win ..
What about this.. ? Its not a gorilla for sure, its orang utan, and the girl is not the mother holding her baby. But I think its pretty close.
............................. ahhhh ...!! I cant upload it ..!!
It said the size is not match or something, I followed all the steps, and tried to resize , but stil not work, its a small jpeg pic. Damn ..! Please someone help ..

Ok, so I'll try this one. Here is my shot of 2 of our brothers from other mothers, one lounging enjoying the sunshine, the other...watching. Let me know if I win.
Tiffany
*I took this with my Sony Cybershot at my recent trip Taman Safari btw, not the best photo in the world so I doubt I'll win Indonesia's Best Wildlife Photographer. But I still like to play!
Actually...looking at the pic again, it looks like one is playing photographer and the other one is playing supermodel...Hmm...do I get extra points if one gorilla is taking a pic of another gorilla?
ok, well done. your turn next.

congrats Tiffany!!:cheer2:
Shoot! I hate deciding what other people post!! Let's go with something more domesticated then...Recently I saw a mother cat nursing about 5 kittens all different colors (hard to imagine they all came from her), so someone show me a similar photo, doesn't have to be different color kittens, just a mother cat nursing. Should be easy considering the number of cats roaming the streets.
*Note* I made this purposefully easy just to get rid of the responsibility of choosing, but that doesn't mean I won't play in the next round!
What's up? How come when I post an idea for a picture, no one responds? I'm feeling neglected...guess I'll just stop checking this thread then. :(
Give us some time, Tiffany ..
I'm still looking for the mommy cat nursing event .., the one here in my office stop nursing already, the kitten are now as big as their mommy, so the nursing thing is change into something else.. :D
I'll try my luck in my kampung .., it should be there somewhere ...

Monkeys!

aWW...so adorable! but no kittens?? Thought those were abundant in Jakarta...guess I thought wrong. Given the options...I have to choose:
ONECOOLBEEYATCH!!
especially since the baby monkey seems to have a teet in-tooth.
Congrats, and now your turn to pic the next subject for Wildlife Indonesia, whew! glad to hand that responsibility over!

That photo was actually taken in Bali. And THANKS, Tdyan!!! Thank God for titties, eh?!
Wildlife Indonesia eh.... can I take it 'THAT' way? :P
c'mon you two, next challenge please...
KW, I'm out. All on her now, leave the "you two" alone.
Oh yea, KW, hubby plays golf at Pondok Indah, maybe "you two" can set up a tryst together? JNoller is the name, not sure about his game.

Here's a topic you will not have any troubles with...
MOSQUITOES!
I gotta see this one! Those things are quick and are not likely to strike a pose for me but I'll try.
And I will fail.

Mosquitoes scarce in Indonesia??! Surely not!
plenty in my office yesterday :(
but my camera aint good enough to get them even vaguely in focus.
Trust me, I've been looking! But seeing as how I just employed a pest control company yesterday and they installed 4 repellent units in my home, my chances are slim. I could have gotten a pic of a flying cockroach as it whizzed by my head and almost caused me to faint, but I was too busy running away from it and leaving it's destruction to my maid who courageously crushed it with her bare foot...eewww!!
Yea, I'm not a fan of any bugs, roaches top my list, so I'll wait for a challenge that involves mammals, reptiles, maybe a bat or rat, but bugs I'll leave alone.

Am I allowed to change the topic? No mosquitoes taker so far. :(
I'm waiting until the traps get cleaned and then I'll snap away!!

I doubt this could be called as "animal photography" or not since my pics are not that clear (my bad cam or me, wasn't able to get more focused) and the object is too small. But emmmhh..., I was success slapping the mosquito with my both hands and it fell off to the floor :D and was kind of "effort" involved :D
37803779
I think that should win...I can spot a mosquito a mile away and that's one, unfortunately I can't spot them in time to avoid a bite! Ouch!
Scratch...scratch...scratch.
looks good to me, wait for onecoolbeeyatch to say yah or nah
:)
