Wouldn't GREEN TOURISM by necessity require that tourists not stay in Nusa Dua? All those lawns, large buffet meals, expansive grounds lighting, etc. really can't be all that green, can't they?

If you want to be really 'green' then stay at home. Just think of the carbon footprint of flying half way round the world. I cannot fathom why what you have described above deserves a green label. Admittedly most green labels are phony anyway.

Nusa Dua and the Bukit are naturally very dry places that require huge amounts of water to make the lawns green. The only reason that area is covered in hotels is because there were very few people to drive away from such poor land. I doubt a single hotel in ND is actually owned by a Balinese.

That being said, that limestone formation probably has Bali's nicest beaches. But that is not saying much.
