i have a 2 and half years old son. we need a person who can stay with us. we have special room with kitchen for the nanny. person must speak english, kids friendly and will be responsible from laundry and ironing. i will register my son to half day school too. so nanny can handle the laundry when my son is not at home. sometimes i may ask for ind. cooking. she must be good at cooking but doesnt mean she will everyday.

My wife and I have been using an agency in Kemang for several years. English isn't their strongest point (you will need Bahasa Indonesia to communicate with them), but occasionally they do have nannies who have English skills. They are reputable in my opinion based on our long association (about 6 years) with them. We get our maids and nannies from them - all nice, clean and hardworking.

More that someone to simply look after a child, it would appear that you are in the market for a live-in nanny/launderer/cook who speaks English. I will keep my eyes open for a multi-talented domestic.

All trained nannies fall into that category of responsibility. Our maids don't do the kid's laundry, the nanny does. Nannies are also trained to prepare meals by the direction of the parent, not the maid. If there is a maid-cook, often an agreement is made amongst the girls and the parent, but not exclusively to all meals.

It's actually weird for us to understand. It's like having separate lives in the same household. I have two nannies and each takes care of their charge. Of course they help each other, but they have their duties and actually take pride in performing such. I had one nanny that wanted full responsibility (no sharing) because that was her job training.

So, in reality, what Darda is asking is basically the duties of a trained nanny, with the exception of English. The English skills are normally limited (the basics), but if the child is allowed to watch Disney and the other educational children shows, they will grow together. A two and half year old's English is limited anyway so fluency isn't a must.

I still have problem with finding good nannies... We have one for a year but she cant do all her duties like preparing food and the like. I am the one doing it before going to work or otherwise, my daughter dont get a proper healthy meal. She just give her krupuk and indomie and other than that, I have to hire a house help to do clean the bottles and wash the clothes as she cant do it properly as well... Giving me headache but I have no choice. She is good with kids and care for them, so I keep her for that.

It's not easy Kverz. We tried other agencies, but weren't satisfied till we found this one in Kemang. They send their girls all over, but I don't think to Central Java. Bummer. :ohwell:

Agency training regimes not withstanding, the domestic help in our household does not decide what their duties shall be nor do they decide on the division of labor among themselves. Its not a union shop. They do as istri directs and if they need to be trained for a particular task, then they are trained at home. If cooking, cleaning, cloth washing and parenting are skills not in abundance in ones household, then I suppose an agency trained domestic is the best option. The OP on the other hand seemed to be advertising for an individual with particular skills, rather than an agency. An agency supplied employee may fill the bill, but there are also many Indonesian domestic workers who monitor the Forum, as well as departing expats seeking positions for their soon to be unemployed help. I would tend to favor the latter two sources.
