One thing I miss in Indonesia (as I did in Cambodia and Thailand) is the variety of cheeses available. I am from the States, so I grew up with many cheeses to choose from.
So I was surprised to go to the Yogya Supermarket nearest my kost and perchance happened across several loaves of bleu cheese...you know, that green, yellow, white and indeed blue colored stuff that is partly mold with a wicked taste that is so good spread across crackers (errr...biscuits for you Brits) though as one former girlfriend told me leaves me breath foul.
I was in heaven to find it. So I bought one to take home with some Jacobs crackers.
Same thing the next week. And the next then again that same week. Then I noticed there were only two on the shelf as I bought the next one. When I went back next, the last sole remaining bleu cheese had been pushed back behind all of the Lemnos (tm) fruity choices. I had to hunt for it and of course I bought it.
In two weeks since they haven't restocked any bleu cheese. So I'm bummed as a taste from home was here, but now I can't find it.
I only post this to see if any of you fellow ex-pats have run into any small things you missed from home, found, then lost.
