Haha, no, I'm not the speaker or teacher, I'm just coordinator. The teacher is an indonesian professional photographer, but he can speak english.

What is the catch? People just don't give away free lessons for photography. I have seen some advertised in Jakarta and they aint cheap.

^^^
I'm taking a shot it's a tempter session to get potential customers interested in doing something they have to pay for.
Seems a fair marketing ploy to me assuming it's a genuine business and not a rip off.
I would be interested in taking a look if I was in the area.

Actually I just represent some photography school. They just want to give knowledge as an education institute. They want to increase people's interest in photography because basically for them photography is not all about business but knowledge and valued art. You don't have to pay anything or buy something to attend this workshop. They have this kind of program regularly.

They just made free basic photography class for free in 7 sessions (every Sunday) several times and students got certificate, no term and condition. Some expatriates took this free program with local people, so they think why they don't gather expatriates in one time for their convenience.

Last time was started in 28 March 2010. They haven't made this kind of program in future but short one like the one that I tell you now. But they said they intend to make free 7 sessions in future again. I will tell you the detail information after the program is ready.

Hi N.E., I would be interested in a professionally run photo-class, but I suggest you be more clear about who you are coordinating for and say it clearly, like: look we are a photo school and we would like to offer one day taster-class to possibly raise interest in our regular classes. Post a link or give the details of the school and cost and conditions of the actual classes. Most people I know (and that includes me) do not like to feel lured into something by giving something "for free" that may come with a price tag after all. The way you present the "free-course" feels a bit dodgy, even if it was made with the best of intentions. So, why not disclose who you are working for and give all the details in a more transparent way? I'd appreciate it.
