Todays Jakpost page 21 (whole page) is devoted to the Foreign Ownership of Property debacle.
It explains the methods commonly used to obviate the ownership rules and the pitfalls therein.
A side article indicated there is some moves afoot to change the Laws to make Foreign Ownership more acceptable. It concurs that neighboring countries, who have more relaxed rules and tenure, translates into a better economy for locals.
The Real Estate Association (REI) estimates that Rp 5 trillion could be received in taxes and used to build rusunami apartments.
There is nothing new that has not been discussed here in this Forum. I just find it interesting that Indonesians have themselves concluded the above, and not us expats constantly whining about the same.
