I finished The Road a week ago and had to think before i wrote. I was looking for another page when it ended and felt very depressed. I guess that was the point. I would not recommend it. It was like the ultimate anti climax and left me very down. :frown2:

Hey RD. I saw the ending as a new beginning for the boy. The man that rescued him had bullets, was well fed and well dressed, well with good warm clothes. He also had a wife and small daughter. They have survived as a family through the terrible things as the boy and his Dad must have. The mans daughter means that there maybe a chance of a relationship for the boy, she is roughly his age, maybe they will start a family of their own? I think it shows that the world is still in such a terrible state and probably will be for many more years but that humanity is just getting a toe hold back to normality. It was certainly not an uplifting book, ha ha, but I still really enjoyed it.
I have nearly finished 'South'. I was a bit disappointed in that I thought it was all the fascinating story of Shakleton's ill fated journey to the Antarctic and back. It was but only half of it. They do all survive, an amazing story! But then he just goes on another journey back to the Antarctic and gets stuck again! Ha ha. And when most of the men came back from the barely survivable first voyage they are champing at the bit to go to WW1 and fight and fight for England, 9 lives I think these guys had. I am still reading it now, got about a quarter to go.
'The Book of Eli' comes out soon here. I tried to see 'Alice In Wonderland' last week but it was all full. Saw 'The Wolfman' instead, not to bad lots of shocks and frights.
Have a good Friday and weekend,
David

Yes I guess I was looking through negative eyes. I liked that you saw the positive and it has cheered me immensely as has shed a whole new light for me. Thank you.:smile2:
Your book sounds long winded - i dont like thick books
I get bored easily.
Wanted to see wolf man but think i will leave it now. The Book Of Eli will be a definite.
Best wishes.
