Hi
Have a friend coming over from Singapore for 5 days.
where do you recomend I take her, apart from shopping?
I have no clue of the tourist attractions in Jakarta??!!
Depends what she likes...
A day to Kota, visit the museums at Fatihillah square, the old Sunda Kelapa Port, lunch at Batavia Cafe.
Dinner at Social House (plaza Indonesia overlookign the Hotel Indonesia traffic circle)
A day at Ancol (beach, when the weather is nicer) - lunch at segara.
A day to visit the animals at Taman Safari, lunch in puncak mountains.
visit monas, and the big mosque, (sorry forgot the name) Masjid Isqul ?
Thanks Kingwilly.
I think you know Jakarta better than my Indonesian husband!!!
Is the mussum any good?
where is this Ancol beach? she likes outdoor and adventure.
was thinking of the Taman safari...thats the one on the way to bogor right? might take her to the vila in suka bumi as well!

Hey there
I suggest you to take your guest to SEMAK DAUN ISLAND =)
So umm, i usually take my guests/tourists to Thousand Island. Semak Daun Island. We do it in a backpacking way. Take a boat from Muara Angke at 7 am to Pramuka Island, ( it takes around 3 hours ), and from Pramuka Island to Semak Daun Island, we can rent another boat, it takes perhaps less than 15 minutes.
I love semak daun beach. its really good tho for snorkeling. But you have to bring your own food, tent, blanket in case if you want to spend a night there. the island doesnt have a hotel, but you can book a hotel in Pramuka Island.
The other place to visit would be Puncak for Kebun Teh, and Pangandaran beach for Green Canyon !!!!!

No problem at all. I / you have to rely on my sister's qualification of the spa, who was with me on my last visit to Indonesia last October. She said it was great. Let us know what you / your friends think about the place.
excellents spa's all over the place really.
Mangga Dua for cheap shopping.,
the Jakarta Expat newspaper available free at many bars and pubs has an article on this very topic.

I didn't have a geat experience there..but it is good!
went there with Ibu and saumi...up and down the place...I didn't find much, mayb cuz it was packed!!!
there was a bag I liked, but when I tried to bargain the shop keeper got offended??!! what foreigners aren't allowed to bargain!!
Have u been to champaka mas ( I think that's the name) its smaller , good textile shops and friendly tailor :)
I usually take visitors to Taman Mini Indonesia so they can get a glimpse of the whole country. There are examples of houses from every part of Indonesia, a lot of museums, and a skyrail/cable car that takes you up in the air over the whole park. There's also a nice bird park, orchid garden, and a small zoo.
Also, if your friend is young (or young at heart), the giant slide at F/X mall is awesome. I think it's the longest indoor slide in the world, and it's only $5.
Have fun!
