View Full Version : which one's better?
Hello guys,
I was wondering about the taste of KFC's chicken that I ate in here not the same like I ate in Australia. The recipes of the crispy chicken not the same I believe with the one in overseas.
What do you guys reckon? Are they the same taste or different?
For me Indonesia's tastes better, maybe because I was born here and they have special recipes get more into local people.

The KFC here is laoded with MSG. Australia does not allow that Poison in the food. Also the Sodium and salt is much higher here in the KFC.
It may taste bteer but it is killing you.
Sorry to be the bearer of Bad news
I can confirm that KFC in the UK is exactly as crap as KFC in Indonesia and Malaysia.
Pizza hut Indonesia has all the same good things that the UK version has but a far better menu gives this one the edge.

If you are talking about printed document, when you say Pizza Hut has a "far better menu," then I can agree with you, Mas. But the food is not only crap, its bland crap. Why any one, (other than my 4-year-old) would want to eat there is beyond me, especially when there are so many wonderfully tasty Indonesian treats, right outside the gate.

Ironic, I flew a 16 hours flight plus one night in transit to Indonesia and all I have in my mind is the opportunity to saviour the delicious Indo foods...not to mention, half of my checked in luggage is full of spices to bring back home to the US:).
So ,sorry I can't give you and answer to the above question because I don't go to those kind of places - nothing beats a good 'rendang' and some jasmine rice .

You have clearly never tried the BBQ base.
While I was in Wonosobo full time I could never have a pizza. I'm still a bule so from time to time, crave bule food. I also happen to like pizza hut.
Mccraps and KFC are easily available in Indonesia but both share an ability to produce food that would be better placed directly into the toilet rather than going through a human digestive system first.
I have als tried twp branches of Papa Ron's pizza. The Semarang branch on th roundabout was rubbish but the other I tried was very good. I've been several times just to confirm this opinion.
You are generally correct about the Indonesia snap. I mostly eat local stuff and enjoy it. The recipe for sambal was clearly put into the mind of man directly from Allah. It's the only way man could have come up with something that good.

a definite YES YES YES!
i'd choose rendang over KFC BUT for days when i absolutely must have KFC, KFC Indonesia is not where I want to eat. No Gravy. No Coleslaw. Mashed Potato is not that good. but if I absolutely must satisfy a craving, it is better than nothing. my 2 cents.

OK, Mas, the next time the little one insists on Pizza Hut, I will give the BBQ option a try.

I am not fancy KFC, but I like chicken with batter, and KFC in here they don't have rice on their meal menu but fries and bread. The combination chicken, Nasi, sambal, and teh botol maybe what your friend was looking for :) and yes the taste of chilly ketchup in here not same as we have in Indonesia.

her magic words when she's in jakarta (actually her reminder in cell phone..:D ) is " jangan lupa bawa pulang cabe rawit "
well, she kept coming to KFC... :typing:
I do visit KFC from time to time including today but I can't say i'm a fan. it's more quicky junk food when I can't be arsed to get something better.
They do lie a little on their in store posters.

The top shows a sandwich with a tasty looking large lump of chicken. What you get is a bit of chicken half the size and a limp bit of lettuce.

I'm shocked, Fred, that you would suggest that an American Corporations, in collusion with their Indonesian partners, might play fast an loose with the truth.

I have it on good authority (with 4 years of experience) that you do get a better class of toys with KFC happy meals. So let's keep our eyes on the ball here -- don't want to loose sight of the important features of KFC dining.

Ahhhh, the toys....I remember have my Little Prince gave an ordered to collected those little beanie babies from McD's...so,there we are on the line to ordered the 'The Kids Chicken Nuggets meals' - gave the foods to one of his friends at school since he rather eats my prepared lunch of 'Nasi goreng' or 'Fried-Noodles' and keeps the beanie babies for his little collections:)

Not sure without looking but 9000 with the tax seems about right.
I do believe the advertising standards in Indonesia are not quite as tight as in the UK. In other words they can fib in the ads.

OK. Now you have explained that I will eat no where else. :)
PS - I do draw the line at eating their fries. They are seriously crap.

There are burger kings in Indonesia?
I'm off to Semarang in the morning to buy some tomato soup from car4.
If there is a burger king I'll go all bule and have lunch there.
Their burgers are so much less crappy than McD's.
Yes there are many burger kings around Jakarta, they burgers are better than Maccas...

yes, once in a while i still go there...esp.if my korean friend came here, with her husband...he he..i dont know maybe like Mbak Tantori said, they love the combination of eating ayam goreng with the rice (nasi panas), chilly sauce and teh botol...
I don't know if anybody has mentioned this or not, but KFC seriously can't compare to Nonya Suharti. Their Ayam Kalasan is out of this world!

Nonya Suharti --MMMMMMMMM! But alas, no toys for the little one who usually has a loud say in our dining out decisions.

I have no idea to taste MSG (micin), how can we find out if the food have alot of MSG?
1 lesson today, I shouldn't go often to KFC or any fast food...

How to find the quantity of MSG.
Easy peasy. If it taste far too much like chicken, you are giving yourself cancer or whatever MSG does to you.
As for the second comment, no bugger should eat fast food. It's pretty much all crap that speeds you to the grave or, at the very best, turns you into a sweaty blubber arse.
I did, after a six hour bus ride, end up in McCrap's, Simpang lima, today.
Triple cheeseburger, fries and a large coke.
A plate full of fat and sugar with added MSG and CJD/BSE washed down water laced with even more sugar and a pile of caffine.
In my defence, I didn't eat many of the fries. They were crapper than usual and I usually leave most anyway.
I, in a second pathetic attempt to defend myself, would like to add that I failed to have any breakfast.
I would like to add this but I can't because it would be a lie. :bounce:

What if one is eating beef, does that imply if the beef tastes too much like chicken it has too much MSG? Or if it doesn't there is no MSG in?
When does chicken taste "too much like chicken" ?
Do I complain in a restaurant and say your chicken tastes too much like chicken therefore you must have put too much MSG in?
I don't think MSG is a proven carcinogenic as it is in almost every processed and packeted foodstuff you buy in every country (not just Indonesia) from potato chips to the can of Heinz Tomato Soup (mentioned on another thread) plus a lot more foodstuffs besides.
Look on the labels for the ingredients, do you see monosodium glutamate (monosodium glutamat)? I think so in just about everything.:smile2:
Does it all taste far too much like chicken?:smile2: If it does not is the quantity of MSG in it OK?:smile2:
I will also add according to my wife, too much MSG in ones food makes one a Goblok.
Does anyone have experience of such?
