The lnk says it all....Chelsea Clinton (daughter of previous President and current Secretary of State Clinton) 29 and still in school, announces engagement to the son of prominent Democrats. The father spent 5 years in jail for defrauding US$10 M. :yield:
And we thought this could only happen in Indonesia.
Long live necrophelia....s**t, that's not the right word...but apt.
Question...what is the word I'm looking for that describes familial networking?
David
Nepotism
Comes from the Latin for Uncle.
Cardinals in the Vatican would frequently naughtily father sproglings who they would later get jobs for - referring to them as their nephews (and mebbe nieces).
Funny (aka strange) wot trivia tends to stick!!!

My home state is in the news again!
In fact this one is very close to home. Father Ed, the crook, is the son of Abe Mezvinsky, a Ukrainian Jew who fled Soviet oppression and collectivization. Starting with a vegetable & fruit cart on the streets of New York, he ended up with a Midwestern chain of groceries stores based in Ames, Iowa. My first after-school job was working in his original Iowa store as a shelf stocker and box boy. Although Abe was a rich man in his waining years, he would come into the store on Sunday morning, put on a stained apron and sell past-ripe bananas to the Catholic parishioners who came shopping after mid-day mass. (Saint Cecilia church was across the street from Abe's Ames Fruit and Grocery.) I think Abe was counting on Roman Catholic indulgence of an old Jew to get rid of all his near-rotten bananas on Sunday morning. He did it in such a down-home manner, that I think many bought the fruit just to have a short conversation with Abe. He was a very sharp, personable and funny guy who made people feel good to have known him.
Abe started with nothing but character and a strong will; son, Ed, started with everything except character. Perhaps Marc, Abe's grandson and Chelsea's fiancé, is more like his grandfather.
In any case, I think its not fair to visit the sins of the father (actually both fathers) on their children.
I like to hear stories of poor guy working like stink and making a mint for his trouble. we had a bloke in my home town who started by dragging a hand cart around picking up scrap. He was a millionaire before he was 50.
I know all of his kids and they share the work ethic he had.

Hold on. Time out. Fair is fair. As unfathomable as it sounds, I actually think that Fred is right about this one. The relationship is of a politically incestous nature. Rare, but true; Fred is right.

Not boring at all...Grat, indeed a very good subject for debate.
I knew a guy who was Dyslexic. He was a Boeing 747 Airline Captain.
In addition, incredibly, his father was Sir Frank Whittle; and dyslexia is presumed genetic!
For those who are unaware of Sir Frank I include his Wikipedia link.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Frank_Whittle
He was the originator of jet propulsion. His background was poor and he was determined to join the RAF as an Air Apprentice. He was a short boy at that age, as was I, and he failed the medical. They must have 'lowered' (sic) the standard as I was accepted in 1952 and graduated in 1955.
I met with Sir Frank on a couple of occasions when he visited his son Ian (my colleague) in Hong Kong. I recall asking him what was his biggest disappointment and he answered, "British Politicians."
It appears they did not provide any grants for his development and, as he did not make a patent, when the engine became successful they nationalized his company and he did not receive any money. Instead, they made him an Air Commodore, gave him a lot of honors, and that was all the pension he received. He should have made millions.
My point in this short story is to suggest that Dyslexia is not a disease. It is only an impediment that can sometimes lead to brilliance.
BTW
I think I got it...Alzheimers...is the word :cheer2:
No..I don't mean I have Alzheimers...only that I just remembered the word I was thinking...however, in contemplation :confused
David
You met Sir Frank Whittle?
