Hi does anyone know or has been to any nice dim sum restaurant serving good selection of delicate dim sum in south Jakarta, preferably within 1 hr drive from Pasar Minggu?

I've tried some dishes at the Emperial Chef in northern JKT (but not dimsum) and although it has okay Chinese food and decent selection of dimsum, it's still too far from where I live so not considering that at the moment. Most other Chinese/Hong Kong style restaurants serve only a few dim sum - like prawn dumplings and siu mai, not

Don't mind the expensive restaurants in 5-star hotels, since they have relatively good quality good in gourmet barrens such as JKT, and are much more comfortable than those jammed with noisy and fat Indonesian kids and cigarette-smoking families. Don't mind the buffet style, as long as the selections are satisfying and taste is good, and the surrounding is nice.
PS: I really like comfortable atmosphere and dim sum on trolley type of classical dim sum places where I can enjoy a nice brunch with my husband.

Any suggestion?

Kemang Dim Sum at Kemang Food Festival is good, not to expensive and lots of people. I don't think I have eaten dim sum anywhere else though so I have little to compare it with. Nice atmosphere, you can sit outside but not get bothered by traffic, heaps of other restaurants there as well, like a market.

The samudra restaurat in Mulia Hotel serves dim sum only in the morning during the weekend, but i can vouch for the taste. There's also one in 4th floor of Taman Anggrek Mall called Samudera (with an 'e' after the 'd')... i heard it's pretty good, but never been there myself.

Although I love Ding Tai Fung and am a frequent customer (in particular because I'm Taiwanese and its steamed buns & dumplings and beef noodles are always reminiscent of the good old hometown taste). But strangely I haven't paid any attention to their dim sum at all. I should try some next time.

Besides the usual siu mai and prawn dumplings, I also crave for ho feng (steamed wide rice sheet with nicely cooked shrimp/beef wrapped in it), the "real" beef meatballs(not the floury ones sold at supermarkets), turnip cakes and more...

Thank you everyone for the fast and useful recommendations. Will certain try some nearby restaurants to start with.

Best Dim Sum in Jakarta ( beware it might full of Chinese):

1. Crystal Jade Palace Grand Indonesia
2. Ahyat Abalone, Midplaza 2, huge selection on Sunday
3. Taipan, WTC Mangga Dua
4. Teratai Chinese restaurant, Hotel Borobudur
5. Ming: Senayan City or Plaza Setiabudi (Halal Food, no pork)
6. Shang Palace, Shangrilla Hotel

I like Din Tai Fung but they serve more Shanghai dumplings than Dim Sum IMHO.

Buono Apettito!
