Hello all,

These are Waisak 2007 in Borobudur. In case you want to consider Waisak in your next-year agenda....

Usually, there is a parade from Mendut Temple to Borobudur Temple before the peak ceremony at night. The participants are from walk of life and religions. In 2007, Buddhists from Thailand joined, too

and Reog Ponorogo

What is Reog Ponorogo, the one which sparked anger in Indonesian people as it was once claimed as a heritage of Malaysia? Here it is http://www.petra.ac.id/eastjava/cities/ponorogo/tourobj/pon-reog.htm

The tomorrow morning, it is time to explore Mount Merapi.

Mount Merapi is considered the most holly volcano in Java. When it erupted few years a go, people were reluctant to go down whatever bad the condition was, because from their dream, they believed the mountain wouldn't go as crazy as it was predicted (it turned out to be true later). People took for granted the government order to do evacuation. Only after Hamengkubuwono King of Yogyakarta ordered the people to go down did the people finally evacuate.

Thank you and glad that you enjoy them :)

I posted these pics so that all expats happen to be in Indonesia do not miss great events. I'll post pics of other incoming events next year.

I didn't go to Waisak 2008 but as I learned from TV it was as interesting as the one in 2007. Burning candles on the top of Borobudur is a routine ritual in Waisak ceremony.

I used digital camera, my petite Canon Powershot A610. Now I still use it together with Nikon D40.

Two problems for that:
1. Lazy to upload them:cool:
2. They are stored in another laptop I have in another place I work... but with no broadband connection:(
Out of to two problems, point number 1 is the heaviest... we may need a while before seing these underwater pics... Never mind, hold your breath ;)

"Sadiki ley jo" it is what we would say in Manadonese. If a Manadonese tell you that, you know you'd better be patient;) I love that expression and I use it as often as possible :)
