Hi,

I have just moved to Jakarta and after months of traveling need desperately a haircut.

I stay in Kelapa Gading and dont have at the moment much time to go all around Jakarta in search of a hairdresser and would like to get it somewhere in this area.

Do you know any cheap, descent place in here? I would be very very thankful for any info!

Hi Kaisa,
I had my hair cut at the KMD Hairdressers in Hotel Kristal (7507050). Jl. Terogong Raya, Cilandak Barat. The prices were not too bad and I am quite satisfied with my haircut. I would suggest to ask for a trim first instead of having a whole new haircut. Just to make sure you are happy with the hairdresser. I am currently looking for a hairdresser to do my highlights. I am not sure whether I will use them. Will post a question on the forum and see if anybody comes up with a suggestion. But for a haircut (or shall I say trim first), I can recommend KMD.

"May May" in MKG would do a good job.
They have their price list displayed on the window and you usually don't have to pay more than that...however don't forget to give tips.

Johnny Andrean salon in Mall of Indonesia (Raya Boulevard West St.) Rp 44,000-
I only had my bang cut for Rp 20k and it was decent.

Yopie at Mall of Indonesia is cheaper, I think. I cut my hair there with Badri for 36,000 IDR (cut+shampoo+tonic+style) + tip. Johnny Andrean is a bit cleaner, however.

Keisha, you can go to Kelapa Gading Mall 2, Irwan & Team salon, and ask for Giovani(a male), the price is slightly higher than Johnny Andrean but you get what you pay.

HI Kaisa,

If you are blonde, please please don't just go to any hairdresser unless it is recommended by another blonde. I learnt this only after I had tiger stripes sideways down my head because I trusted a "leading" hairstylist who had only ever worked on asian hair. I'm not able to recommend anyone near Kelapa Gading.. but if you have time to go to Kemang, there is a salon there called Mill and Matt. They fixed my horrible stripes and did a fantastic job too! I'm pretty sure they are still around..

I hope this helps!
