I can't seem to find it. Was it taken down by the mods?

A few threads have gone. I believe it's an effort by the mods to remove the arguments from the forum.
Seems like a good idea.
Do you agree?

Good idea? Depends on what you want this forum to become and what type of participants you want to encourage. As it stands, this forum has very few regulars. the bulk of the posts are written by a limited group of about 15 people. I have no interest in participating in a forum where every week you get a thread "can I as a foreigner buy a villa in Bali?", "where can I find marmite?" etc.

Where can I find Marmite in Jakarta? I'm not sure I will be able to survive without it.
Oh, and while I'm on, can I, as a foreigner, buy a villa in Bali?

An ex-pat community forum will naturally attract a smorgasbord of nationalities, differing cultural views, and unlike opinions. The diversity of subjects posted will attract more people and we are all free to choose which cheese we like on our biscuits. I like reading the mundade and the controversial posts equally.

I'd like to hear an explanation from the moderators. I'm pretty certain it wasn't Atlantis, for he would have been transparent and forthcoming with his reasons and rationale for his actions. As it stands, I'm pretty close to calling it quits on this forum.

If you would have like an explanation, you could have sent a PM to me or to any other Admin to see who deleted it and why. But regardless I'll answer you here Mauricio.

As noted by Fred, I deleted that thread because the majority of the posts in it were just snarky and combative between a few people. It is as simple as that.

"Snarky"? Sorry, Paman, but your simple explanation just don't cut the mustard. As I said in my PM to you, I will agree to your terms, not because you have assembled a compelling argument, but rather because you are the mod and therefore in a position of power (aka "might makes right"). If you are going to pull a tread down, be transparent about it and explain it to us all.

I understand that you are taking this personally because it was your thread, but as mentioned in the rules (http://www.livinginindonesiaforum.org/misc.php?do=showrules) that you agreed to when joining the forum, threads can be taken down at the discretion of the Moderators. If you wish to talk about this matter further, and about each individual post in each thread that I delete, perhaps you can send me a private message, since the conversation will be 1 on 1, and we can discuss it there.

I can not agree more with the two above statements. Thank you guys to have resumed my point of view in just two sentences.
