Fresh meat here, friends. I'm an American Expat who may be stationed in Jakarta for a year or two, starting in November. I will be in based in Jakarta, but will be traveling at least 50% of the time.
I have traveled extensively throughout SE Asia, but never in Indonesia. My office will be in Menteng. My Employer will assist in securing an apartment.
I know about the traffic, the flooding, and the pollution.
I am looking for basic information about what to look for in an expat apartment in Menteng. The web links to the serviced apartments make them all look like hotels.
Do expats stay long term in serviced apartments? If so, which are preferred by folks? If not, what other apartments are preferred?
Any other insights regarding securing a residence would be most appreciated.
(Also posted in housing search.)
