Hello,

We are a french family planning to live in Medan in september. I am looking for a french school or an international one for my children -at a reasonable price-(they don't speak english at all...) can anyone advice me? Do you have any idea about the price of a family house to rent in a nice area?Thank you for your help...

I may well have a bad news for you. The only french schools that I know of are in Bali and Jakarta (and maybe one in Balikpapan organised by Total -?-). I doubt that Medan has such a school. You may found National Plus school, but it would be hard to find a school proposing french curriculum.
An alternative would be home schooling with CNED (http://www.cned.fr/scolaire/).

I live at the other opposite of Indonesia and I am afraid I can not answer. However, I am sure that there is a french community in Medan. May be not big, but I would be very surprised to hear that there is none.

I have been in Medan for a couple of months, but I don't have any kids so I don't know much about schools here.

There aren't many foreigners in Medan to start with so finding a community of one particular country might be difficult. I thought for example I could join a school to study Bahasa Indonesia but there isn't the demand for group classes.

House prices are probably a little cheaper than Jakarta. It really depends on what your needs are and what you or an Indonesian friend can negotiate. I would spend some time in temporary accommodation before making a decision as usually you need to rent a place for at least 12 months.

As I know there is no french school in medan yet , but you can check out about SIS ( Singapore Indonesia School) , They do teach English modules or Subjects and O' Levels . They O' Levels is Equal standard with Singapore English . I would SIS in medan is a branch of SIS Singapore
