View Full Version : Blue Book
I have been working in Batam for almost 2 years now. The company I work for organised all the required documents, including the Blue Book and they are keeping it for me.
Now I read somewhere earlier in the forum that it is responsibility of the visa holder to ensure that the Blue Book is applied for and kept up-to-date and they they should be the one keeping the book.
Can someone shed some light regarding the regulations for Blue Book - who should be holding it? If the company holds it for me, should I have a photocopy of it for my records?
What happens to the Blue Book if I leave the company to join another company?
These are the types of questions that I will need clarifying in the next 2 weeks.
Now I read somewhere earlier in the forum that it is responsibility of the visa holder to ensure that the Blue Book is applied for
Correct, it is under the foreigner's responsability to register to the POA section of the KanIm, though for many foreigners working in Indonesia it is generally done at the initiative of the sponsor or its agent. Nevertheless YOU are legally responsable for it.
and kept up-to-date
Correct, and you have to inform the KanIm of any change in your civil status, address, passport number & validity, type of stay permit, work place...etc (I think I gave a full list in another thread) no later than 14 days after it happened.
and they they should be the one keeping the book.
You are not in the obligation of keeping it with you and your company can keep it, however it would be wise to get a copy of it in case of a request.

If you leave Indonesia doing an EPO (terminating your ITAS/ITAP), the blue book should be given back to the KanIm.
I believe that your situation should be considered as such, but I advice you to check directly with the KanIm (via your future employer for example) about that particular point.
Hi Atlantis,
Thank you for confirming what I was suspecting.
I am leaving the company that I am currently with at the end of April. So of course, I will "loose" my KITAS and get another type of visa temporarily until I get another job and new KITAS.
Now - here is the interesting part - chances are, there will be no overlap between the 2 jobs. Means that there may be a 2 to 4 week (or more) period where I don't have a KITAS.
Would it be a bad assumption to say that KanIm would supply me with the same Blue Book when I start with the new company? Or would they provide me with a new Blue Book?
