I have been looking in Indonesia for several years and have been unable to find any Gardenia, or more properly, Gardenia Jasminoides - plants.

They go by the names "Gardenia" - "Cape Jasmine" - and even "Kaca Piring"..... where can they be purchased?

Haven't had the opportunity to get up to Puncak to look but they are certainly rare in the Jakarta area.

hi kato...we have a lot in Bali, we sent lots of them few years ago to caribbean for a resort. i think you should be able to find them in jakarta (can't remember the street name in Jakarta but i ever saw they sell it along the roadside where a highway over it) or bogor. in bali we call it Jempiring http://www.livinginindonesiaforum.org/C:\Users\VGN-CS16G\Pictures

I beleive Rawabelong is only for "cut" flowers. I am looking for live specimen plants.

Thanks to you for replying anyway. W will have to pick some up on the next trip to Bali.

If yes..you can find it in puncak or maybe in Senayan near JCC..I bought it couple of times but I had no time to care of it, so its dead.

Looks like a plant and seed day .... if you have no time to go to Puncak you can buy seeds at the site below for 2.99 GBP for a packet of 20. The flower pic and web site are below

the pic looks the same as stt_cibubur posted below so locally better follow her advice but the seeds exactly are as you require if you don't have the time to go around looking around.

Yes, Thank You, those are indeed Gardenia's.... which variety, I am not sure but they look like "Augustus" ......

I assume the market near Senayan is opposite Taman Ria? Have looked there before, but their stock rotates quickly so maybe have a shot on the next trip.

Any specific place to look in Puncak?

Hi Kato ... I can assure you the seeds as posted are exactly as required Gardenia Jaminoides if you care see the address posted.

The local plants I have no idea but you specifically did ask for the above genus .. I believe.
