I know this should be a happy forum about marriage, but I could use some advice.

I am a UK citizen who has been living in Bali and married to an Indonesian for the past year. We have had a very difficult marriage to say the least mainly due to lack of trust issues.

To put mildly, we both have stayed in a courtship which should have ended long ago for the right reasons.

Both our lives have fallen apart emotionally, financially, physically and mentally.

I started to look for a job back in the UK and have been offered a position which I will be taking and my wife and I have agreed to file for divorce.

I will not be in Indonesia to file the petition for dissolution for irreconcilable differences and was hoping someone can clarify the following:

Can my wife sue me for alimony in an Indonesian court and if in her favour can be enforced in the UK. (since we met my wife has never worked and we have been living off of my pension and savings and we have no shared properties or possessions).

Retrospectively, can an Indonesian judgement for financial compensation as a lump payment or ongoing support be enforced overseas...

Thanks for any help.

I think you will find it quite simple.

Everything you have here is shared 50/50. what you have overseas is your bussiness.
Did you get a prenup before you got married?
