KITAS

Hello Everybody,I have been reading the threads about KITAS with interest. I have just started the process of obtaining one. I have over the years since 1996 had several different Visas´s, but now with the economic crisis roaming around the Globe Ivé decided to stay longer in Indonesia with my family.I recently spoke to a friend of mine who had a KITAS,last year I think.He told me it will cost me RP12jt. That is 12 million. I allso recently found out we have a family friend who works in the Immigration Office.She came round to see me yesterday. To be quite honest I thought she was a bit lost, she made a few phone calls while she was here and told me the cost would be around RP7jt. Big difference.But she was unsure. Anyway left with papers and documents and the promise to get in touch on Monday. Has anybody in the community recently obtained a KITAS and can quote a price, after all my years and dealings with Immigration I am pretty sure there is no such thing as a recommended price for services. I did.
It costed me IDR 700.000 (seven hundred thousand rupiah) + a trip to Jakarta to go pick up the "surat persetujuan" requested from the DirJen.
I don't know what you mean by a "recommended price for services". Concerning Imigrasi, I just know what the official price is, and pay for it. Anyone can do the same, as long as one follow the correct procedure.

This is probably a stupid question but are there such things as recommended prices for services at Immigration offices? A friend of mine had to pay 12jt!!, that is 12million rupiah for his KITAS here in Pekanbaru. And then still had to take everything to Immigration in Singapore. And also pay 250 Sing dollars.

1. There is no stupid question, especially when it comes to question concerning administrative stuff in Indonesia. :)
2. There is an official set of fees that immigration is allowed to charge. If you click the link I provided in the post #82, you will find a downloadable version of it.
3. If you give me more infos about your personal situation/case, I can tell you what you should pay and what procedure you should follow.
