Yes ... and he is tooooo cute.
I have him in the Cesar Milano (the Dog Whisperer) training schedule just now...
I am not too sure that he is impressed with dog psychology!

That's a very smart move! I have to agree completely because boxer is of the more aggresive breed. If you see my avatar, it's my beloved dog Athena back in US, a Neapolitan Mastiff, and boy, was she handful! At 100 lbs by a year old and started showing her alpha side at few months old, I had to introduce her to Cesar Millan's calm-assertive energy. She got me to work hard to it and that method worked for her and I. Within a couple months, she was showing a lot of improvement in her behavior. Thank goodness for Cesar Millan.

Oh what a cutie.

Does Cesar Milan work with stupid dogs? Ours are pretty hopeless in the brain department.

I think lil Jr thinks he is alpha male... hehehehe; well for sure he likes to dominate my flip-flops, and my rugs, and my brushes, my mop, my plants, my garden tools; in fact anything that he can get his chops round.

Anyhow he is part of the reason I don't spend so much time in here anymore.

But I am so proud of how willing he is to learn, in the space of a week he is toilet trained (ahem ... almost), comes to me when I call him, does a sit on request and offers a paw.
I miss my other dog in the UK so much... he was at his cutest doing a high5 (or should I say high 4? ).
I don't really think of dogs as aggressive by breed... its usually ignorant owners that teach them wrong.

Thanks Pusp :)
If you have kindle you can get his books in electronic format- I had to do that as I lent my hard copy to a friend- way back ... never saw it again.

Congrats. We are just getting ready to get a puppy too.(shih tzu) I'm going to look up Cesar Milan's materials too. He is awesome. Wow toilet trained in a week? Did you order a specific book? I'll probably be shouting out to you for help. Btw which vet do you go to? Thanks

bow chicka wow wow

YES! Exactly! Untrained/unsocialised alpha dogs can be dangerous and they are usually abused (not only talking about getting beat here) by their lazy/ignorant owners who expect dogs to be human-like because dogs can't and aren't, and also those owners who are just too lazy to take their dogs out for a walk to train (I was sometimes :D). All dogs especially the large breed dogs need that short daily walk to release their excess energy and to bond with their masters. The right dog walking and positive reinforcement along with calm-assertive energy will assure them they need not be the pack leader. You be the boss or they'll assume that position and being so will make them unhappy and aggressive.

Well, I'm not a dog expert but Athena and my other alpha dogs forced me to learn to be a good owner (or at least trying to be, according to Cesar Millan's dog philosophy). I love dogs especially the larger breeds and I've owned Boxers, a German Shepherd, a Mastiff, and Dobermans. And some breeds do have the tendency to be more aggressive, it's just their nature. When I left my country, I had to leave my dogs behind with my friends. I do miss them a lot :(

@Puspa: what kind of stupid dogs? :D

i had my puppy 9 years ago, now she is a grandma :)
but she's still strong, the cutest ever, the most clever dog i ever had and she almost never fail to trick me. one example to show how nakal my dog ..she would sleep on my couch whenever i was in my room but when she heard sound of door creaking open, she would quickly lying on the floor waiting until i went back to my room..

BA - what a cute dog :)

awwwwwww what a cute one. Mine is already 8 months old. And he's taller than our coffee table. Result: his tail topples everything on it even my cup of coffee.

We're now waiting for his surgery and neutering schedule from the vet.

Wish us luck.

Cesar has a puppy training and beyond book. easy enough to find.
The vet is in Bandung.
Toilet training is easy enough- its about routine and vigilance.
Once the pup has the routine there are few "accidents" over the months/years the dog should automatically go to the door at his usual toilet times.

So. darn. adorable.
He's sat here waiting for your visit ;)

I concur. I also love the large breeds and have always had working dogs.

Great dog, I love Boxers. Aggresive they are not, that any dog can be agressive if you let it be. As Cesar says he rehabilitates dogs and trains owners.
My first boxer was the daughter of the top boxer in Crufts, daft as a brush, but ever so loyal. The second one I had when in India was used a few times on training dogs on Inidan TV, she was a star, and so emotional.

One of the reasons we went to Indonesia was the ability to take her with us from India to Indonesia, however between pre-visit and moving the law changed and I had to find a new home for her in India. That was fortunately succesful but broke my heart.

Remember to be Alpha one BA

Ohh I am... but it seems that lil Junior is not quite ready to pay attention to that yet...
there are reasons for this that I won't get into here.
He is not my first delinquent dog... my black lab was 3 years old and never been trained only beaten before I got him. He was a real handful at first.
Soon got him sorted out though.

Junior is growing fast and is quite a handfull, he is getting his new teeth so he wants to chew on and bite everything ... I find that giving him ice-cubes helps him out a little bit.

A month on and young Junior is still growing fast he is just a bit too cute so mama_baddie is a very naughty dog trainer and therefore Junior is just a little bit delinquent at times.
Ooops.
My growing concern was what to do with him when I have to return to the UK later on this year.

The initial plans a, b, c and d all came to nothing- thanks to those of you who gave empty promises if you happen to be reading this... I would tell you where to shove your heads- but I think they are already stuck up there.

My search for a suitable dog-loving live-in assistant has not been too fruitful - one candidate was great with him but is not reliable.
The reliable/ honest people are (it seems ) terrified of dogs...

Anyway as it stands I have now got a semi-live in helper, he is afraid of the little-baby-puppy, but great help for everything else.
And a great fun companion for nights out, rocking away to AC/DC the 'Stones or BonJovi music :)

I finally found a place that is not too horrendous to 'store' my lil Junior... but it comes at a price.

So for any of you out in the sticks around Bandung who wants/needs a dog boarding place I will recommend (in advance) Pet Distro
They are clean and have good sized kennel cages... they have a garden and a swimming pool for the animals too.

I have been quoted 100,000 IR per night, a hell of a lot more expensive than the other place I found... (40,000IR) and a hell of a lot better quality and higher standards.
If anyone has any better or more interesting alternatives feel free to pop them on here.

I had a guy offer to come to my house twice a day to exercise and feed the pup ... and whilst that would appeal for a short term trip- maybe 1 or 2 nights.

My worry is - what would happen if this chappie had an accident or got sick or just decided not to come here ( <see- I do learn :p )... so I discounted that idea.

Over to you ... :)
