new in Jakarta, looking for pre-school

French guy, new comer in Jakarta. Iam looking for an americain or australian pre-school, (meaning run by american, english, australian ,...) for my little 2 years old daughter. Near Taman anggrek or close (let's say 15/20mn max by car)

I don't know any.. just know Penabur International School (run by Indonesian I think).. it's located in Tanjung Duren.. sorry can't help much

I think that a preschool called Kidea is a good choice. I send my own kid there, and I am happy with it. They alternate between one week of Montessori instruction, and one week of 'classical' instruction. Most of the teachers are Filipinas, with degrees/experience in early childhood education. They have a school in your area, I think, so travel time should be reasonable. It's worth checking it out anyway. Good luck.

Hi! I'm a teacher from a preschool not so far off from where you are. You might want to check us out. Our curriculum was developed by this wonderful British woman who specializes in drama, though owner of our school is Indonesian (it's a requirement by the law) but we do follow child-centred learning experiences. We have teachers from Canada, England, USA and the Philippines. The only downside that you might find though, is that we have mandatory Mandarin classes. I forgot to mention, that I'm the Coordinator for the Nursery levels (2-4 year olds) where your daughter would fall into. If, this doesn't interest you, I know of another school that is strictly an English school but it's around 45 minutes from Taman Anggrek. The area you live in is a predominantly Chinese populated area so, it will be hard to find a purely English speaking school in that area within a 20 min drive... hope this helps

Sheila - can you please tell me where your school is? I am Chinese- American... even though my baby is still too young but would like to get info already for her to attend schools that teaches both english and mandarin. Thanks.
