Hi Everyone. Does anyone have any knowledge of IALF Bali in regards to getting a Trinity TESOL certificate there? I am really leaning towards taking the course there. When I started this, I was going to do online training, but have since heard and learned it is much more beneficial to do it there in person. So I have focused on IALF. Any thoughts?
Thanks!!!
I attended that course 2 years ago. It is an intense one month program where you attend class and also teach volunteer middle school students. There are 3 moderators that critique your teaching, one per week. You also do a individual learning project with a student. It is possible to fail this course. If you have any specific questions feel free to pm me or something.
I would recommend that course wholeheartedly. I did it in 2007 and it was a great experience for me.
It is a very hard and intensive course, and there is no guarantee you will pass. Also, the dropout rate is quite high as people are not expecting the amount of work involved.
That being said, they do bend over backwards to help you, and no-one on my course actually failed, although there were a few dropouts and some near breakdowns.
I myself was so close to quitting during the 3rd week :)
But, I perservered and came through it unscathed. It has definitely helped me.
Also, the fact that you receive a recognised qualification makes it worthwile. I would suggest only enrolling on courses that offer either the Trinity or Cambridge qualification. The others aren't really worth the paper they are printed on.
Good luck
