Dear all,
my wife was offered to move to jakarta. at this stage she doesnt have a firm offer in hands and we are wondering what an average salary for an european architect in Jakara would be.
the company will cover all living expenses like housing, schools for the kids, a car etc... bu we are wondering what an average salary would be.
further I would like to know the chances for my self? I am currently working as a Manager in the shipping industry and would move over to jakarta without job offer as my company is not present in indonesia neither have any contacts in that area.
any help in question of figuers and in question to my work situation would help us a lot.
thanks a lot for your time and hope that somebody can help us. Any ball figures will do.
R.

Ask what you want and what you think is fair for your family. There is no such average salary of expats, depends on their job and qualification. Your post before edited, mentioned that you have been doing the research of living cost here, than calculate how much money you want to save and add to it. Don't forget your wife may have to pay 33%tax if the company doesn't cover income tax.

thanks a lot miss naughty.
the tax question we will defiantly raise to the employer.
we have seen the costs of living yes. but we want to make sure we can afford sports clubs, out dining, cinema, weekend trips etc... so we were wondering what other expats tend to earn.
of course the more we can safe the better but it all depends on what we can negotiate. seeing that there is a lot of negative critics on jakarta city we want to make sure we dont arrive with a tight salary.
thanks again.

Hi 'new in jakarta'

I work in construction foreign company in Jakarta. Here, approximately salary range for expat architect salary range between USD 8500 - USD 13.000.
Maybe in other foreign company can be above of that range.
Usually all living cost for expat covered by company. But tax paid by employee.
