Has anyone had experience with this?

My wife and I have 2 small poms (3-5kgs each)

I'm thinking of taking Lufthansa Airlines (layover in Munich) through to Boston.

We're based in Batam, and still working on getting the vaccines. We'll probably take the dogs on Garuda from Batam to Jakarta. Is there any need for quarantine, since Batam is rabies free? I'm not too keen on spending a long time in a hotel in JKT if we can just get on our plane.

Thanks for any help!

Hi Aidy,

Thanks for the link, but it does not address my question, which is: is there any need to quarantine animals in Jakarta which are coming from Batam? If anyone has done this, or a similar situation bringing an animal from a rabies-free area through Jakarta, I'd appreciate any info, because I can't afford to throw away money on plane tickets that I'd have to reschedule because of quarantine laws. It's difficult to find any info!

Jared,

It states that as long as the animal fulfills their criteria, namely jabs for rabies, the form filled in a vet certificate, there is no quarantine. If there is no quarantine in the US, then there is no need to quarantine a pet leaving Indonesia.

You're lucky, the UK, Australia and parts of Europe require a six month stay in quarantine. This can be done in the country you are going to (say UK) or a country that is approved, Singapore being the closest and Indonesia not even being on the list.

OK, thanks for the info. I'll check with my vet, also. Now onto the tricky part: getting a rabies vaccine smuggled into Batam! (Not available because rabies free zone).
