Surely a normal clinic hospital would be able to do that...

Well, Not sure about normal Clinic as the medical standard here is not as advance. I know all my good friend goes overseas for check up.

So I was wondering is it true there is really no proper place for such screening that everybody must do it overseas thus my question.

SOS clinic in South Jakarta should be trusted but they r bloody expensive from what I recall.
Personally I live in Manado and I, along with my sons and wife, often go to a local clinic (named PRODIA), who has several "cabang" in the city, to get blood test when someone is sick. No problem, they r clean and efficient. U should find branches in Jakarta for sure if we have it in Manado!

After a few years in "remote" indonesia, I got a few tropical diseases (dengue, typhoid and chikungunya among others) , infections, dental problems...etc. I never went abroad to seek treatment. "Medical standard" can sometimes be discussed here, but it is untrue to say that u can find proper treatment. Especially for such a simple stuff than "STD screening and blood test"! Sorry to say, but it may be better to stay at home if someone think that his life is at risk here !

True what Atlantis says... there is Prodya in Bogor. Very efficient...can check everything you want. Cost is very reasonble...last year I had blood test, cholestrol test etc and paid about 100 thou. In fact, the summary reportl contains a lot of info, more than what you get in your own country.

I agree with the others SOS in Cepete and make an appointment with a Dr. Thomas, best Indonesian GP I have ever found here in 19 years in Jakarta. He will fix you up and very knowledgable and helpful. Actually still reads medical journals and if he does not know will go searching on the net for his answer. He is one of a kind in this place.

Some being the key word, and the man asking does not strike me as a local. As for SOS just down there a couple of weeks ago, these days Indonesians patients out number expat patients there 3 to 1..........

Besides I have been paying for private insurance here for 15 years or so, probably paid 200 juta total over the last 15 years for coverage but the health insurance company has paid hundreds of thousands of SGD for me medically in the last 2 years so if you see expats in SOS you can probably guess most have some form of insurance and if you can afford it and do not have insurance in this country then what can I say......

After living here for a while, we tends to think from Indonesian point f view. If you can have Nasir Goreng for Rup 6k at the Kaki lima, why paid Rup 40k to have it in a nice hotel. The cook is no better as the guy down the street fry Nasir goreng everyday.

As for Doc, I still go only to Pondok Indah RS and nowhere else.... There is no compromise for certiain thing. Having said that, check up is a totally diff issue ya.

I know a good one there as well, Dr. Roni Rosali, treated me many moons ago when I had a cebatious cyst on my back.....and very true comparing the every day meal with your personal health but then again from some locals point of view here, life is cheap............

In the Intercontinental hotel there is a clinic in the basement shopping area.

ps - I saw it when shopping - I have never had need for the services of an STD clinic - common sense and careful selection of your partner should avoid the need for such services. But if you have to live adventurously, ask a chemist for the right preventative drugs to take before you get adventurous.;)

I found the best and perfect place.

RSUP. National Dr. Cipto Mangunkusumo
Jl Diponegoro No. 71, Jakarta Pusat.

Do not go to the normal clinic as the wait is very long, Go straight to Poliklinik Cempaka which is for VIP.

Cost : Very affordable.
