Hello,

My name is Jean-Michel and my sweet heart's name is Arum. We've just arrived in Manado.

We, first, would like to give us 5 or 6 months to see if we like the place. If so, we would like to set a place for volunteers to go to villages school to help to teach English.

.. but first things first, we would be really happy to get in touch with the expat community if there is one in Manado. We also look for a place to rent ... we don't know how to find one, and so far, I must admit that asking people in the street has not been successful. :-?

Thank you so much for any help

Hi Jean Michel,
Manado is a wonderful place to live... and it is a minimum to say so.
Finding a place to live is not that hard, but it is mainly by word of mouth that you would find a room to rent.
I should be able to help you but I am away from Manado until the end of January.
PM me where you would like to live in Manado, type of house that you are looking for (how many bedrooms) and a budget range and I will try to give you advices.

No problem. Torang samua basudara is a famous manadonese motto. I guess you will soon understand the meaning of it. ;)

I am now back in Manado. Feel free to PM me if you are still around so that we can meet. :)

I would hazard a guess that the Indonesian cognate of that phrase would be Semua orang bersaudara.
