View Full Version : Get out while you can
Watched a very interesting doco last week on Australian TV.
All about how Jakarta is sinking and they are predicting in 10 years will be mostley under water. Unavoidalbe they say. Can't really put in sea wall in time to stop it and even if they manage to hold beck the sea it will still sink anyway.
I'd buy real estate in Bogor if I could .. as undoubtedly the city will be moving further and further south !!
wm :)
Will Jakarta become the new city of Venice in Asia? :D
I saw that segment too, but they did not say Jakarta would be underwater in 10 years. What they did say that in a period of 10 to 20 years, the outlying areas of NORTH Jakarta would be unihabitable.

In 10 or 15 years my southeast Jakarta house could become waterfront property, you say? I wonder if the value will go up enough to offset the devaluation of the Rupiah?

Depends if "Waterfront Property" gets as good a price with floating turds or not eh ? One could just imagine there will be a little more than a few.
It sounds good for seaworld in Ancol, Piranhas will have more room and fun !
Jules Verne dream will finally comes true, here in Jakarta ! Indonesians continue to amaze me.
Underwater city tours in submarine could be fun, I just wonder why they continue to build expensive houses & high rise apartment in Ancol area ?

I suppose the developers will stop building in Ancol, when people stop buying units. I think it was P. T. Barnum who said you can never go broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public. The thought may apply to Indonesians, as well.

Eddy,
Where would you go? The way the polar ice cap is breaking up there will be doom, gloom and plenty more water everywhere...but not in this life time...so don't worry I think you're safe!:)
Maybe we'll be caught in traffic jams in our boats instead of cars!!

Wouldn't that be something...so instead of cars, there would be boats to contend with. I wonder what model would replace the motorbikes? Perhaps a dingy?:D
they forgot bout the global warming.. in 10-15yrs jakarta will be hot enough to vaporize the flood.. :p
