View Full Version : movies?
With the cinemas blocking international movies im starting to stress out about how i can see a few upcomming movies.
One such movie is 'battle los angeles'. I havent been able to find it until now, almost a month since its been released.
has anyone seen the fake rp7000 dvd for battle l.a.? I have seen the promotional posters at the cinemas but was told that it wont be showing.
Geez im really missing my cinema now
IMHO you're not missing much. I've seen it, it was alright but I was expecting more than that.
Buy a media player, and a terabyte drive, ( you can get a combined box for 1.75 juta ) and get them on HD format.( 1080)
I pay about 60cents a movie, and saves downloading them, never had a bad one.
So where did you see it?
Sorry forgot to mention it, I've seen it in the cinema not in Indonesia :)
K&M, wouldn't you still have to download it to the media player/HD?
From my supplier, I give him the Terabyte drive he loads it from from his machine, takes him a couple of days to fill up 2 terabytes.
Even at reasonable internet speed downloading a single movie would take the best part of a day, so I have no problem letting him do all the hard work.
Quality is fantastic. If you you dont like or dont want to keep the movie just delete.
Oh yea I remember that thread now...will have to start doing that. I have a spreadsheet of TV shows and movies I want to watch. No need for HD format though. standard def or 720p will be fine. Will PM you after I get my drive. :-D Shopping for a TV that will read USB drives with media in it (songs, movies, pictures).

I picked up one of these bad boys a couple of months ago:
http://reviews.cnet.com/portable-video-players-pvps/western-digital-wd-tv/4505-6499_7-33396690.html
Hooked up my Terabyte WD drive to it, and have been happily watching reruns of Curb Your Enthusiasm ever since. The machine even has wireless connectivity (if you buy the USB connection), so I just upload things from my Mac right into the hard drive without having to switch cables or anything like that.
Highly recommended.

check this out for Media players

they normally have 2 USB ports and can play most format files, whether you want pictures, movies or music.
Most flat screen TV'snowadays have at least one USB port, better connect the Media player via HDMI cable and connect your drives to the media player.
If you want to make it really fancy take an old PC, set is a server, stream all your files and have wireless to the TV...easy

Haha, looks like we are on the same wavelength yet again, Kim.
between me and some work colleagues we have about 8 terabyte of movies and TV serials. The movies are 100% HD.
Are you downloading yourself? how long for one movie?
Or are you using the services of a friendly local to do the job and pay him for it.
Silly to buy if someone already has the movie you want, Is there anything specific you want, or some genre maybe I can help
I was looking for a TV with a built in media player :-D But yes the WD unit is quite a nice one. I had a Roku back in Portland. Greatest thing in the world! Well...maybe until after I get the big drive and have it filled with the 110 movies on my list to watch and the last 2-3 seasons of about 50 TV shows. Haven't had time to watch anything this last 3-4 months!
K&M: you should catalog those titles. Especially if you guys have old movies (classics like Alfred Hitchcock, Audrey Hepburn, etc) that I'm sure are a bit more difficult to find.
Meant to add: someone in Bogor is sure to pay a few nice shiny brass looking coins for each ;-)
Much more difficult to get.
I have a few original DVDs if you want to borrow:
Easy Rider
Butch cassidy and Sundance kid
Up in Smoke ( damm funny )
The Lover
Thief
Casablanca
The Hustler
Quadrophenia
Trafik ( the original series, not the crappy Traffic Hollywood version )
MASH ( film)
Of mice and men
Malteses falcon
The Wrong Man
The Big Blue
My Beautiful Laundrette
Sexy Beast
I can lend you if you want?
K&M: I shall have to borrow those from you sometime. Still busy closing off one job but already starting another...I should have asked for a signing bonus! ;-)
another source t download movies, tv shows, audio files, etc is using torrent files via BitTorrent (peer-to-peer file sharing) protocol. Such files can be downloaded, as well as uploaded, from various BitTorrent websites, using a BitTorrent Client application
(Comparison of BitTorrent Clients on Wikipedia (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_BitTorrent_clients)===> I've been downloading my favorite US TV shows using "Transmission" for Mac.
Keep in mind that with public sharing protocol, there are risks of corrupted files, adwares, and malwares. So far, I haven't encountered such issues downloading from 'pirate bay'. Comparison of BitTorrent sites (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Comparison_of_BitTorrent_sites)
Depending on your internet speed and how many people downloading ("leechers") vs uploading ("seeders"), it may take hours to download an episode of Entourage!
So does anyone know where to find 'battle los angeles'? There is aparently a knock off of this movie thats causing confusion on the net. 'battle OF los angeles'. Maybe thats why its taking so long to do the rounds.
Geez there are so many good movies comming this year. Transformers 3, cowboys and aliens and captain america are a few im wondering how to see them?
I dont have any media player and i dont think those guys have the movies untill after they already released on blu ray. Whew, this means i really have to wait.
