View Full Version : Ducati Motorcycles in Indonesia
Hi everyone,
I think this is the best place to ask questions http://s.wordpress.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif The other day I was browsing the Internet and I came across a whole bunch of Ducati distributors/dealers and what not, all in Indonesia. I could not resist but contact a few of them, they all told me that these bikes were originals. These bikes sell for around $40.000 USD in North America

I couldn’t sleep that night thinking what a bargain, but it’s too good to be true, in my oppinion.
Can somebody shed some light on this subject and explain what the heck is going on here?
Thanks,
Robert

A Ducati can be had for a third or even a fourth of that, depending on the model, in the U.S. I believe that punitive taxes are levied on motorbikes that displace more than 250cc. Harleys are already overpriced, in my opinion, in the U.S. By the time, they are sold in Indonesia both the taxman and the importer have pocketed a handsome sum.
Do you really need more than 250cc in Indonesia? The problem is not the low displacement of engines of bikes sold here. The problem is that lack of choice.
I want to import bikes into Canada. These Ducatis look fake. The magnesium wheels on original Ducatis sell for $2600 USD etc....
Does anyone have experience with these Indonesian sellers and bikes?
R.
You mean there are no Ducati dealers in Canada?!
Does anyone have any experience dealing with these apparently genuine Ducati distributors that sell motorcycles at 10% of the original price?

since Ducati does exist in Jakarta, if anyone has a question about whether a bike is original or not they could take it to Ducati Indonesia and pay a small fee to have them check it for originality and to check the bike out mechanically. If the seller is for real then he should not object.
