View Full Version : Siamese cat wanted
I've tried before but failed to find a healthy siamese that actually looks like a siamese. I was offered a sick kitten by a horrible dealer at Gajah Mada some time ago and someone else tried to persuade me that a kampung cat was '3/4 siamese'. Nice try.
I am not interested in posh pedigrees or show-winning ancestry, any blue eyed mushroom coloured siamese with chocolate or seal points would be ideal. I'm looking for a pet not breeding stock, male or female.

Just curious, Gffgold, why a Siamese specifically and why a cat generally? Is the to be a working cat (mouse infested house) or simply a pet that lounges on the couch shedding hair?
Ah, it is because siamese don't shed much hair - the fur is very short and they don't moult. Also, they are very territorial and tend to keep unwanted feline intrusions to a minimum. They don't get stolen like persians because they are not fashionable here and they are well adapted to the tropical climate. Siamese have a reputation for being bad tempered, and often deservedly so, but there are no children in the house.

Guard cat -- sounds reasonable. We have a garden area that the local felines love to scratch in to leave deposits. Tired of chasing -- I need a BB gun with just enough power to sting their backsides.
The local kampung cats are just not very territorial. Even if you keep one as a house cat from as soon as it is weaned, it will still allow the local cat populace to visit without much resistance. Persians will chase away the opposition but their beautiful long fur gets all muddy in the process and they have to lie down gasping afterwards as they overheat. A mean siamese is the best option so long as you can put up with the odd bite and scratch yourself.

Fact that Siamese shed less is good to know. Anyone know a breeder or rescue or market/shop that adopts or sells them?
