Hi
I'm moving from cloudy England end of October and will be living in the Kemang area.

I am a qualified English teacher (have taught 9-16 year olds Junior and Secondary school) and would like to work part time in a school. I was also planning to take a TEFL course before I leave the UK.

I would like to know if it is worth taking a grammar TEFL module also - is it useful in Indonesia?

If any of you out there have any suggestions that would be great!!

If you are qualified to teach, then you will have no problem at all trying to apply for jobs as a teacher in an international school. Jakarta is filled with international schools that are willing to pay an expatriate who has appropriate qualifications.
Don't waste your money on tefl; if you already have a teaching qualification you won't be needing it anymore - the most important thing is to have a degree, otherwise you will be stuck in a dead end esl job that pays very little. Nevertheless, good luck! It's always nice to have more teachers in Jakarta!

what mrsgod, mind you I suspect that the lass would have already started or even finished her TEFL by now, if she is planning a move in the next weeks.

By "Cloudy England" I really hope you're not expecting "Sunny Jakarta" :p

Best of luck over here :)

Thanks for all your replies!
I have been here for 2 days-went to the gym yesterday, decided to return home only to discover the road had now become a river! I thought this must be normal as the builders suddenly 'conjured' up these plastic boats to continue transporting their loads and just waded nonchalantly along... Brought a bottle of gin with me and some wine and I am now eyeing it up like some desert-island bound, crazed drug addict, with limited supplies. I don't understand why it is only diplomats who are allowed to buy in the duty free stores - if there are any of you on this site I'll be your friend!!

It's not only diplomats who can by there. Just head in with a smile, good deals to be had. Mind you, shouldn't you be enjoying your new surroundings instead of drinking your mind numb?
